Modern Fire Suppression Technology at ZUMA Wien GmbH
When it comes to the safe handling of waste and recyclable materials, fire protection plays a crucial role. Together with EmiControls, ZUMA Wien GmbH (AT), a leading waste management and recycling company located in Vienna’s 11th district (Simmering), has implemented a flagship project: a fully automatic fire suppression system that has been operating reliably.
A strong project powered by innovative technology
With the new fire suppression system, ZUMA relies on state-of-the-art fire protection technology. The system addresses potential fire risks preventively, ensuring maximum safety in daily operations while minimizing water consumption and reducing consequential damage.
Overview of all components
The fire suppression system combines several key components into one intelligent overall solution:
- 4 × FT10e firefighting turbines
Generate fine water mist for rapid fire suppression, effective cooling, and reduced water consumption. - 6 × Orglmeister PYROsmart units (5 × pro + 1 × one)
Highly sensitive infrared cameras detect hotspots at an early stage and automatically trigger extinguishing processes. - 1 × fire extinguishing monitor
Ensures precise foam application directly onto fire sources – ideally suited for recycling environments. - Foam proportioning system
Guarantees the exact mixing ratio of the foam agent. - Water tank (100 m³) and pump container
Ensure a constant supply of sufficient extinguishing water.
ZEWITECH GmbH was entrusted with implementing the entire infrastructure – from construction planning, pipeline construction, and electrical installation to final assembly. The result is a perfectly coordinated system that combines maximum reliability with efficient control.
Automatic fire protection at the highest level
As soon as the PYROsmart system detects a fire or hotspot, the turbines and fire monitor are activated automatically. The combination of precise detection, intelligent control, and effective water mist technology guarantees fast, targeted, and resource-efficient fire suppression.
In this way, ZUMA Wien not only protects its facilities and employees but also sets a strong example for safety and sustainability in the Austrian waste management and recycling industry.
In summer 2025, the project was documented on-site in a video. The footage impressively demonstrates the scale and performance of the system during live operation.
